President Carter’s Love of Country Music
Catching Up with Shelly West
During his four years as President, he invited many Country artists to perform at the White House. Those included Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, The Oak Ridge Boys and Charlie Daniels. After Carter’s death at the age of 100, a few Country favorites shared their memories of the President.
Being the daughter of a true Country superstar was not always easy. Trying to make her own mark on the very same stage would have been even harder. But somehow, Shelly West was able to pull off that next-to impossible feat. After being known as Dottie West’s daughter, Shelly went on to record her own chart-topping hits.
